Snatch Photos From Your iOS Videos [Free App]

SnapStillIconHave you ever wanted to pull a picture out of one of the videos saved on your iOS devices? Having recently had our first child, my wife and I are snapping photos and videos like never before. Now armed with SnapStill by Magic App Factory we can pull some great pictures out of the videos we’ve taken over the past few months. This universal app is extremely easy to use, but you must give SnapStill access to your videos and photo library in order to enjoy all its awesomeness. You can take video within SnapStill but I’ve found it easier to take video outside of the app and simply come back in later and pluck out the pictures I want to grab from previous videos. Normally SnapStill is $1.99, but if you download it today it’s available for free. Check out the video below to see just how easy it is to use.

If you’re reading this information days after the original publish date, you might be too late to enjoy this free offer, but $1.99 is not a bad price for something you’ll get quite a bit of use out of if you shoot a lot of videos. If you subscribe to my website, you won’t miss out on another amazing offer like this since you’ll receive emails when new articles are published on iOS Etc. To subscribe simply input your email on the right under “Subscribe to blog via email” and hit subscribe. A confirmation email will be sent to the email address you provided. Once you confirm your subscription you’ll be a part of “the Critic” club and enjoying all the great information we share here. Make sure to check out some of the other great articles we have on here that are helping make life better one app at a time.

Snap pixel-perfect photos from any frame of any video in your Photos library with the all new third-generation SnapStill, free for a limited time.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Select or record a video to snap
  2. Scroll to any frame in your video—dragging the timeline to move quickly or the video itself for frame-by-frame precision—or select a shot from its Suggestions bar
  3. When you find a photo you want to keep, save it to your Photos library by tapping the snap button or double-tapping directly on the video

It doesn’t get any easier than that, but while SnapStill might be simple to use, it packs a ton of power underneath the hood.

With SnapStill’s new Suggestions feature, it’s faster than ever to find great moments to snap. As soon as your video loads, SnapStill starts scanning for for shots to suggests. When it finds one, it puts a thumbnail in the Suggestions bar, highlighting faces that it detects, and even noting which ones appear to be the best shots. Simply tap the suggestion and you’ll be taken directly to the photo.

You’re never limited to these suggestions—let’s face it, humans are still better judges of what makes a great photo than are computers—but they can be helpful pointers to the best moments in your video. And the great thing is that they never get in the way: Even while SnapStill is analyzing and presenting suggestions, you can scroll to and snap a photo from any frame in your video.

Whether you’re new to SnapStill or you’re one of the hundreds of thousands of existing users, we hope you love the all new SnapStill. Please let us know what you think—you can email us from right within the app. Enjoy!
