Hidden iOS 7 Features: Day Two

Uncovering the awesome features in iOS 7 can be a daunting task. There are a lot of hidden gems right at your fingertips, but who has the time to go through and find all of them. We all have busy schedules, right? Let iOS Etc take care of exposing some of the secrets in the latest software update for your iOS device. Come here over the next week where I will reveal two iOS 7 features each day. If you missed the first two features I revealed, you can access that post by clicking here.

  1. If you’re beginning to notice the text on your iPhone is just a bit harder to read, you might want to adjust the text size on your device to bold. I adjusted this setting and it was like the first day I went to school after getting glasses, a whole new world! To do this, go to Settings > General > Accessibility > then turn on Bold Text. This will require a restart of your iOS device to adjust everything. Turning on bold text was one of my favorite adjustments I have made to my iPhone in a long time. I don’t know why, but it just made everything seem more crisp and easy to read. Give this adjustment a shot even if you don’t have an issue with the text size, you may just stick with it. I’ve suggested this to a few people and they didn’t think they would like it, but they stayed with it after modifying their iOS 7 device.
  2. Looking for an easy way to share content on your device with other iOS 7 users? You should explore the AirDrop feature. To enable this feature, swipe up from the bottom of the screen on your iOS 7 device. Touch the AirDrop selection and another menu will pop-up. Here you must select who can  discover your device. You can choose to be discoverable to your contacts or everyone. If you select Contacts Only, you will only be discoverable to your contacts. When you select Everyone, anyone using iOS 7 with AirDrop enabled on the same Wi-Fi network will be able to connect with your device. Now, select the item or items you want to share and select the share icon. Select the name of the AirDrop device you want to share with and they will receive an alert with a preview of the content you want to share with them. Once the user accepts the file share, the content will be available on their device. AirDrop is a great way to share the original quality of photos and videos. If you’ve ever received a video from someone via text, the quality is not the same as the original video. This is a great way to share high quality content with friends and family.

iOS 7 provides its users with a lot of cool features and functions. So far, I have revealed only 4 features you can use to help unlock your iOS devices full potential. Stay tuned for the next 10 I will reveal over the next 5 days. Make sure to follow me on Twitter @iOSAppCritic so you can get updates when the next blog post goes out. Trust me, you’re not gonna want to miss out on what else I have to share with you about your iOS 7 device.
