Father’s Day 2014 is here and you know how much your dad loves his iOS devices, but is he using them to their full potential? Well loving family members, give your proud father some iOS savvy with a few of the following iOS applications that will help enlighten and brighten his iOS future. Be careful though, you just might create a monster if you enlighten him too much. You’ll have a hard time pulling him away from them if you give him too many goodies all at once. Just remember how he probably told you growing up to enjoy things in moderation, so put his sound advice to good use and make him proud by showing you listened to him.
If you haven’t sat around and had some fun with family members with Urban Dictionary, make today the day you shed some light of some of the amazingly funny and inappropriate slang terms our bright minds of tomorrow are developing. If you have parents or in-laws like mine, you can sit around for hours sharing some laughs as well as gasps with this free iOS application. Urban Dictionary is not suitable for all ages, so pick your slang-term sharing wisely. If things get out of hand, I’m sure mom will shut it down fairly quickly, but it’ll be worth the laughs nonetheless.
If your family hasn’t discussed your family tree altogether, today would be a great day to it! The Ancestry app allows you to quickly start piecing together your family puzzle in no time by putting everything right at your fingertips in this iOS application. Monthly subscription prices can be a little high and are billed through your iTunes account, but you can get some great family information or connections for free last time I checked. There are other in-app purchases available to enjoy too that’ll unlock information. Go ahead, give it a try and you just might start a conversation about a distant relative you never knew about until you started digging through the Ancestry app stirring up those memories.
Does your father have an iPad but still insists on reading the morning paper? If so, you need to introduce him to Flipboard! I’m not suggesting it will completely replace his daily routine of reading the paper over a cup of coffee, but it’ll definitely keep him in-touch with his iOS device while staying caught-up on current events. One thing it’ll surely help with is keeping him in the loop on social media since you can add a lot of your accounts into Flipboard. If you haven’t had a chance to check out this amazing application, you’re truly missing out. Such a clean and sleek way to engage with the news and social media too with it all being delivered to you in interactive and familiar formats.

There are so many great, manly, things your dad can learn from Pinterest that he will be glad you enlightened him. Oh, and by the way, your dad can use Pinterest to make sure he does it up right for mom when it’s time to get here something nice by using some advice I gave in a previous article about this great iOS app. Trust me when I say jumping around Pinterest will spark some ideas and have you slapping your head thinking, “Why didn’t I think of that!?”
